Here are two excellent resources to help you pass the PACS Certification exam.  The Picture Archive and Communications Systems exam is challenging and includes knowledge of DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine).

Inside the PACS and Imaging Informatics book  you’ll find information on topics such as:

  1. Medical Imaging Principals
  2. PACS Fundamentals
    • Including HL7, DICOM, IHE, Integration, Communications and Networking
  3. PACS Operations

This next book by Oleg Pianykh covers the structure and application of the DICOM standard in enough detail to be helpful to the general user of medical images, as well as to a programmer who is developing an image management system. …

This text can also serve as a reference for those getting more involved with applications that use DICOM or those who want to develop their own DICOM application. … I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the DICOM standard.

As a PACS Administrator you don’t need to have the same depth of understanding as a programmer, however this book can give you all of the working knowledge you need.  It’s als great to have as a reference.
